INDIAN DANCE WEEKEND, FESTIVAL OF DANCE, MUSIC AND INDIAN CULTURE is a unique concept created by SUNNY SINGH BOLLYWOOD DANCE COMPANY.
IDW is a weekend exclusively devoted to Indian dance and is also an approach to the Indian culture. IDW not only is an international Indian dance contest but are also master classes and workshops given by then most prestigious choreographers from the Indian Film Industry, performances by well-known international artists, jam sessions, Bollywood parties every night and a grand finale which makes IDW an unforgettable event.
IDW Bollywood Festival is the only event in Europe where professionals and amateurs alike share their passion for Indian dances, competing, learning, improving, dancing and certainly enjoying this exclusive experience.
IDW 2015 – MADRID
After two years in Barcelona, this year the festival goes back to Madrid. Names of guest maestros who will give master classes and perform at the gala will be disclosed shortly. We will update the web with all information available
IDW 2014 – BARCELONA
Following popular demand of the participants of the past edition, Kathak maestro ANASUA MAJUMDAR and Mayurbhanjj Chhau maestro RAKESH SAI BABU were one more year our guests for IDW. We had the opportunity to introduce Odissi in edition with the well-known maestro PATRICIA SALGADO. As in past editions we had SUNNY SINGH teaching his unique choreographies of the latest Bollywood hits. For the first time SUNNY & SURESH SINGH introduced SSBDC latest concept: Bollyfitness Extreme.
2014 broke all records; we had contestants coming from so far away as South Korea and Brazil. We gave over 20 hours of master classes to over 80 participants from 10 different nationalities, parties every night with DJ Kunal, brought specially from the UK… a weekend full of energy and fun.
IDW 2013 BARCELONA
We had three great Indian dance masters as guest artists for this edition, giving master classes, judging the contestants and participating in the gala. SUNNY SINGH as Bollywood master giving his best and sharing his expertise. RAKESH SAIBABU, a skilled Mayurbhanjj Chhau master and well known dancer (a classical tribal type of dance with a hint of martial arts) and the great master and renowned dancer ANASUA MAJUMDAR, who shared her skills and experience in Kathak (another type of classical dance dating back to the 16th century).
International presence increased in 2013 edition, with participants from Russia, Italy, France, Greece, Belgium, Switzerland, etc.
IDW 2012 MADRID
This edition had the acclaimed choreographers BOSCO&CEASAR, awardees of the most prestigious prizes of the Indian Film Industry, such as: Filmfare Awards, Screen Awards, Iifa Awards, Apsara Awards and recently awarded with the National Award for their choreography “Señorita” from the film “Zindagi na Milegi Dobara”, shot in Spain.
IDW 2011 MADRID
The guest artist of the first edition was the great choreographer Saroj Khan, a living legend, admired and respected by everyone in the Indian Film Industry. Among other important prizes she has been awarded with 8 Film Fair Awards to the best choreography. This was the first time students had the opportunity to enroll in a master class by maestro Saroj Khan outside India, SSBDC brought her exclusively for IDW.
